Nage waza ura no Kata (forms of counterthrows)
Created after World War Two, nage waza ura no kata consists of three sequences of countering techniques performed in the order set out below:
Te-waza (hand throwing techniques)
- Uki otoshi (floating drop) countered by Tai otoshi (body drop)
- Seoi nage (lifting shoulder throw) countered by Yoko guruma (side wheel)
- Kata guruma (shoulder wheel) countered by Sumi gaeshi (corner reversal)
- Tai otoshi (body drop) countered by Kotsuri goshi''' (small hip throw)
- Obi otoshi (belt drop) countered by O guruma(large wheel)
Ashi-waza (foot throwing techniques)
- Okuri ashi harai (foot sweep) countered by Tsubame gaeshi (swallow counter)
- Kouchi gari (small inner reap) countered by Hiza guruma (knee wheel)
- Ouchi gari (larger inner reap) countered by Ouchi gari gaeshi (large inner reap counter)
- Sasae tsurikomi ashi (propping and drawing ankle throw) countered by Sumi otoshi (corner drop)
